Mercedes spent £309.7 million to win 2017 title

The Mercedes F1 team spent a whopping £309.7 million to secure success in the 2017 season.

The figures reflect only the running costs of the team and not engine development at their facility in Brixworth.

Despite the lofty numbers, Mercedes parent company Daimler AG only forked out £60 million, meaning that income from sponsorships and prize money accounted for a large percentage of the running costs.

The dominance of Mercedes shows no signs of ending just yet with Lewis Hamilton’s victory putting the team over 50 points ahead of Ferrari, their nearest challenger.
