Mercedes partners with Chargemaster
Mercedes-Benz UK has formed a partnership with Chargemaster, the largest provider of EV charging infrastructure in the UK, offering customers a convenient home charging alternative for their Mercedes-Benz or smart electric plug in vehicle.
With worldwide electric car sales now having hit one million in total, the partnership seems a logical move for the German car maker, who has been vocal about their future aspirations regarding the technology.
There are currently four Mercedes electric-hybrid models available to purchase in the UK: the C350e, E350e, GLE 500e and S500e, in addition to the all-electric B250e. Three further fully electric options are set to join the existing fleet next year, as the automaker moves towards fulfilling its electric mobility promises.
Customers will have the option of installing either a tethered or non-tethered, 3.6kW or 7kW Chargemaster Homecharge system at their residence for quick and easy charging. Once a customer has completed an online registration form, they are then contacted by the Mercedes-Benz Homecharge team who can discuss the different installation suitability and options.
It’s the aim, that once an order has been placed, the Chargemaster team will complete installation within a two week period. Prices begin at £279 for the 3.6kW Homecharge unit and £354 for the 7.0kW version, which can charge three times as fast as a normal 13A socket.
In addition to quick and easy home charging, Mercedes-Benz and smart customers also benefit from six months’ complimentary access to Chargemaster’s ‘Polar Network’ when they subscribe with Homecharge, which allows charging at a network of 5,000 charging points located throughout the UK.
