Mercedes S63 AMG all yours for a cost of £119,565
The new Mercedes S63 AMG will cost £119,565. It will be released this winter with it arriving in showrooms in November. According to Mercedes themselves, the car will set new standards in ‘set new standards in driving dynamics, performance, refinement and technology’. Is it really that good?
The engine will be a 5.5 litre V8 bi-turbo. The transmission will be a Speedshift MCT seven speed gearbox. In total the car can produce an unbelievable 585 BHP with 900Nm of torque. From 0 – 62 MPH the car will hit a time of 4.4 seconds. The speed limit will be electronically limited to 155 MPH.
With all of those high end figures being thrown in your face, you may think that the economy would be pretty awful. In truth the MPG is actually quite impressive. The car will achieve 27 MPG whilst emitting 237g/km of C02, not bad for a car which is focused on pure power and performance.
The body kit makes the car looks ultimately aggressive and sporty. Just by looking at the car you’ll be able to see that’s fast. The sits on 19 inch AMG alloy wheels.
Mercedes mentioned that there would be revolutionary technology within their car, they certainly weren’t wrong there. In comes Magic Body Control and Burmester Surround Sound. There are also AMG adjustable sport seats together with a tyre pressure monitoring system. The standard equipment amounts to £8,400 of extras within the previous S63.
You’d think that with standard features like that, there’s no need for extras on top. Well in typical Mercedes fashion there are plenty of options to choose from. There is a carbon fibre package for the exterior which will come at a cost of £5,000. Ceramic brakes will cost an extra £7,090. For an extra £2,760 the Mercedes Driver’s package will be included. The top speed will also be de-restricted to 186 MPH.
Rivals will include the Audi S8 and the BMW M6 Gran Coupe, some unbelievable competition. Do all of these features mention justify the fact the Mercedes will be a tremendous £23,000 more than the BMW M6 and £42,000 more than the Audi S8? That’s quite a huge price difference with cars that are all considered to be within the same category. Mercedes will be hoping that the S63 AMG have enough features to entice the audience away from BMW and Audi.
