Mercedes-Benz America Sales increase by 11.3 per cent in August
Mercedes-Benz America has seen a sharp increase of sales in August in America. The news has added a great deal of spice to the luxury car market in America. BMW’s sales dipped in August thanks to a special type of promotion which meant cars shifted last month went towards July’s total rather than August.
Mercedes-Benz managed to sell 20,557 vehicles last month alone. This represents an increase of 11.3 percent compared to August 2011. From January to August, Mercedes-Benz has sold 168,462 vehicles. This represents an increase of 13 per cent, a brilliant achievement from the company considering the stiff competition from Audi and BMW.
Altogether, the Mercedes-Benz Group which consists of Smart and Sprinter vehicles too sold 23,439 in August, a rise of 13.1 per cent year on year. From January to August, all brands have managed to sell 188,351 vehicles which represent a 17.9 per cent increase.
Steve Cannon, the President of Mercedes-Benz America said “With an all-time record setting year so far and now with exciting product in the pipeline, including the all-new GL-Class currently on its way to dealers across the country, we plan to build on this momentum through the end of the year,”
The leading models for August were the C-Class, E-Class and the GLK class. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class sport variant was particularly successful with the younger generation, an area of which the company are trying to attract. In total 37.9 per cent purchased a C-Class, an increase of 37.9 per cent from last year. From January to August, the C-Class has managed to sell 49,868 units.
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class managed to sell 4,515 last month, the company’s second best seller. In third place was the GLK Class selling 2,775 which represented an increase of 43.6 per cent. The SLK roadster sold 373 representing a 174.3 per cent increase in sales compared to the previous August.

The brand new Mercedes-Benz 2013 SL roadster sold 604 in August, despite being new to the scene. Overall that was an amazing 705.3 per cent increase. The SLS AMG was another big hit, selling a fantastic 51, a brilliant 59.4 per cent increase.
In the race to number one, Mercedes-Benz America seems to have the upper hand at the moment.
