Mercedes reveal their F1 special edition A45 AMG
Mercedes-AMG is celebrating their second straight Formula 1 world championship title with a special edition car. Its full name is the Mercedes-AMG Petronas 2015 World Champion Edition of the A45 AMG 4MATIC, and its colour scheme is inspired by the “victorious Silver Arrows”.
The car is available in three shades of grey/silver: Mountain Grey Metallic, Designo Mountain Grey Magno, and Polar Silver Metallic, all with petrol green and black accents. It features leather interior sport seats, special trim and badging, Mercedes’ Night and Day packages, new front splitter, rear roof spoiler, and unique 19-inch wheels.
The 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine achieves 381bhp and makes the sprint from 0-62mph in just 4.2 seconds, thanks to the standard-fit AMG Performance four-wheel drive. This makes the special-edition A45 AMG one of the fastest hot hatchbacks ever.
This will be Mercedes’ second Formula 1 Championship win, with Lewis Hamilton being re-crowned and Nico Rosberg in second. The design of the special-edition car mirrors the look of those driven by the winning F1 team. Tobias Moers, CEO of Mercedes-AMG, says: “this is a way for every fan to share the success of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.”
The pricing is a sizeable €65,402.40, but it’s less than the celebratory special edition AL63 roadster was last year. UK pricing is expected to begin around £46,000 when it’s released next year.
