Daimler Group achieves best ever month and year
It seems as if every major car company are achieving record breakers in the emerging car markets across the world. Daimler reveal that they should not be left out, with them achieving a record high in terms of sales for December and the whole year in China. Sales figures take into account Daimler’s Mercedes-Benz, Smart, Maybach and AMG brands.
December sales saw a new record of 23,230 Mercedes-Benz’s sold in China. In total 198,520 cars were sold throughout the year, giving the company an overall growth figure of 35 % when compared to 2010.
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class was one the company’s better performing vehicles in the country. 3,700 were sold in December of 2011 alone which represented the model’s best month ever. Total sales for the year equated to 31,050.
Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class
Both the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and C-Class are produced in China, helping localise the vehicle and attract more sales. The actual cost of the cars that were naturally brought down too as production and part costs were not very expensive. This helped bring up the growth of both cars to 50 % annually.
Popularity of SUV’s increasing
Sports utility vehicles offer something different to customers as compared to the typical luxury saloon. SUV sales improved by an amazing 85 % when comparing sales to the year before. 54,335 were sold in total in 2011. The Mercedes-Benz GLK compact SUV as well as the M-Class were front runners in this particular category.
