Mercedes teams up with Super Mario in new game

First of all, Merry Christmas! And second of all, please enjoy this fun and nostalgic Mercedes post!

So, if you thought Mercedes’ advertising couldn’t stretch beyond the silver screen, you thought wrong. Not only do we see the cars in television adverts and used in films, we can now see them in familiar cartoon games.

Yep, that’s right. Mercedes has teamed up with Nintendo’s Super Mario Maker to create a whole new Mercedes-themed level. Titled Jump’n’Drive, the player goes through the stages of owning a GLA car; starting at the dealer and then driving to the Mushroom Kingdom.

Players make Mario jump into the Mercedes-Benz GLA car costume at the start of the level and then the fun begins. The luxury German carmaker created the level themselves with plenty of inevitable advertising images, including the giant three-point star above.

Mario ‘drives’ through the customised level with plenty of surprises in store. Once the level is completed, players are able to access the GLA car costume any time they want. It’s nice to see such a fun collaboration, with a nostalgic feel for the old-school Super Mario graphics. Mercedes has partnered up with Nintendo before, when it offered the GLA as a bonus vehicle in Mario Kart 8.

“We are delighted to once again be represented in a blockbuster game like Super Mario Maker,” says Dr. Jens Thiemer, Vice President Marketing Mercedes-Benz cars. “Mercedes-Benz and Super Mario have a lot in common. Above all, they share the same vision: to inspire their customers and fans.”

The Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG features in the advertising campaign below, which teases fans about the new level. The luxury vehicle is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine, which achieves 375bhp and goes 0-60mph in just 4.3 seconds.

The brilliant teaser video from Mercedes-Benz’s YouTube account shows the collaboration between the carmaker and the famous Italian plumber:
